Val Senales Valley in South Tyrol, a unique mountain experience. Senales Valley, the beautiful skiing area in the heart of the South Tyrolean Alps not far from Merano (35 km) and Naturno (15 km) guarantees snow all year round.

Certosa, Vernago, Madonna di Senales, Monte S. Caterina and Maso Corto. Each village has its own past. Maso Corto is the highest village (2000 m).

The Senales Valley is a real inside tip also during summer month's. Skiing fun on the glacier and fascinating hiking tours with panoramic view on the amazing alpine scenery: the perfect vacation for passsionate mountain aficionados as well as for families.

Mountain excursions, hiking and climbing tours (Marchegg climbing centre). Numerous pleasant and demanding hiking tours of all degrees of difficulty starting from Maso Corto. The mountain restaurant Grawand (3251 m), the alpine refugees Schöne Aussicht (2842 m) and Almdiele Lazaun (2430 m) offer food and rest.

Here is the place were "Ötzi", the famous mummified 5000 year-old man, was found in a glacier on the Similaun mountain high above the Val Senales valley.

Unique in the Alps: the sheep round-up

The spectacular sheep round-up is a traditional event. By the mid of June up to 3,500 sheep of the Senales Valley are driven up over the Hochjoch to the Venter Valley. In the middle of September, when the grazin season is over, the flock is brought back home - an event with the qualities of a local festival.
