Merano's Alta Via (the Merano High Mountain Trail) encompasses the reserve of the Tessa mountains and is one of the most beautiful paths of the Alps with its 94 km (58 miles) curling along an irregular landscape offering marvellous views of mountain peaks more than three thousand metres high and peaceful places for a rest.

With an amazing panoramic view, you can admire the Venosta valley, the Merano basin, the Passiria valley, the Alps of the Sarentino valley, Stubaital and Ötztal valley. The funicular of Tirolo Hochmuth and the chairlift of Vellau, access to Tessa Group Natural Park excursion area.

The Merano High Mountain Trail is an extraordinary "several day walking tour" through the Tessa Group Natural Park, the largest reserve of South Tyrol. It is divided into northern and southern circuits. The entire hike can take between 4 and 6 days. Along the Merano High Mountain Trail are huts and inns for overnight stays.
